QUIET CLASSICISM

Karv One Design created this private residence in Hong Kong’s Mid-Levels for a family of four from overseas. The residence enjoys expansive views of the surrounding greenery, the racecourse, and Hong Kong’s city skyline. The design responds to both the family’s lifestyle and the unique outdoor setting, establishing a balance between classical elegance and contemporary living.

The architectural concept of No. 6 Shiu Fai Terrace draws inspiration from the renowned Château de Chantilly in northern France. The interior design continues this classical reference through a language of arches, curves, timber finishes, marble, and refined brass details. Different-sized structural columns were originally positioned between the floor-to-ceiling windows. The designers reorganised the window frontage with a series of continuous arches, integrating the structural elements seamlessly into the design while concealing curtain tracks and smart-home devices within the architectural detailing, keeping the overall lines clean and restrained.

The palette is centred on white, cream, and natural timber finishes, allowing the views outside to remain the visual focus. The living room extends horizontally across the residence, with the arched openings framing the landscape like a series of picture frames. Wall sconces, vintage-inspired parquet flooring, art displays, and a bespoke curved bar add layers of classical refinement and character to the interior.

For Karv One Design, residential design is not simply about creating a particular style, but about shaping a home around the way its occupants truly live. Against the distinctive backdrop of Hong Kong’s urban landscape, Shiu Fai Terrace uses considered details to support the everyday life of the family, allowing classical elegance to ultimately return to a sense of comfort, ease, and natural living.
